She strolls down the aisle in her own miniature fairytale dress while the
music is playing with a radiant smile upon her face. Following behind the
bridesmaids carrying with her a bouquet of flowers or a basket of rose
petals, the sweetest little wedding guest of all, stealing the hearts of
your guests, she’s your flower girl.
This is a great honor for any girl to be chosen as a couples flower girl and
careful considerations must be made in deciding who it will be. For some the
choice of choosing their flower girl is obvious but others may have several
possible candidates.
The usual age for a flower girl is age four through age eight to ten But if
you have a mature three year old in mind she will do wonderfully. Generally
girls over the age of 10 are more comfortable as junior bridesmaids.
Talk to your flower girl’s parents and ensure they understand the financial
responsibilities and the time commitment. The flower girl is expected to
attend all rehearsals and other wedding related activities and her parents
generally attend with her.
Plan the ceremony so your flower girl can sit with her parents after walking
down the aisle. Let her practice during the rehearsal walking up and down
the aisle to get used to having everyone watch her.
Remember to keep in mind that little girls grow fast when selecting her
dress your final fitting should be one week prior to the ceremony.
Flower girls add a cute touch to any wedding. From the little girls who
dump their petals half way down the aisle or run to bride’s side to the
mature three year old who meticulously walks the aisle, you’re sure to get a
smile from your guests as she takes her turn in the ceremony.
