Hello, it's me!
Back again with some wedding planner tips that I feel will be very informative for you! This month, I will discuss a typical wedding planner contract, such as what to look for and what to beware of. There are, of course, as many versions of a wedding planner contract as there are wedding planners, but there are also some similarities.
Many times, a wedding planner contract is titled a "Letter of Agreement". Wedding planners do this because "Wedding Planner Contract" can sound intimidating to prospective brides. Whatever the title, this is a contract between the bride and the wedding planner. Make certain that you READ the entire contract from beginning to end. The time to find unwelcome items in the contract is before you sign on the dotted line!
A typical wedding planner contract will require information from you such as; name, address, telephone number, date of event, number of guests and any specialty items that you will want to add to the list of duties for the wedding planner. The wedding planner contract will list what services that the wedding planner will provide and the cost for said items. It is also common for the wedding planner contract to discuss the terms of payment and the final date that all payment must be made. You will also probably find a sentence or two addressing the penalty fee if you should cancel your services with your wedding planner.
Do remember to shop around for your wedding planner just as you would shop for your reception hall or your officiant/clergy. Don't be in a rush to sign any contract and beware of any wedding planner who pushes you to do so. You must feel comfortable with and trust your wedding planner; he/she will be holding one of the most important times of your life in the palm of their hand!
I hope that this will help you to figure out what to expect when you do decide to make a wedding planner part of your future events! Until next time, and next topic, I wish you well and-Happy Planning!
