Hello Again!
I love my job. I am one of the few who can honestly claim that I actually enjoy doing what I do on a daily basis. I get to plan wonderful events with wonderful people, work with the best and most professional staff, and come up with new and innovative ideas for our wonderful events. Of all these, I must admit that the most challenging of them is the part about coming up with the new and innovative ideas. I know that I am not alone in this sentiment because I have listened to many of you express the same thoughts. This month I thought that I would explore this topic with you.
One of the most reliable places that I return for fresh ideas is the Internet. When all my ideas have run dry, I usually find a wealth of information from the many people who enter their ideas on that engine. I try to gather as much information that I can process in a few hours and combine items to customize my event.
One of my most favorite ways of getting ideas for events is talking to children. They never cease to amaze me with their ingenuity and enthusiasm. All you have to do is ask them what they would like to do, eat, play and dress as at one of their events and you will probably have more information than you thought possible. Another idea is to check history. There are so many different celebrations that have happened in so many different ways over time, that there is always a new way of doing things. Themes can also be fun, just watch out for over-working the theme for your event.
Families, friends and co-workers are also wells of information for ideas for functions. The side benefit to discussing ideas with them is the fun that you inevitably have with them just by getting their ideas!
These are just a few suggestions that always work for me and I encourage you to explore some or all of these ideas. Have fun doing so; after all, is that not what it is all about, anyway?
'Til next month. . .
